The Douglas DC-3 aircraft that served in Saudi Arabia was notably gifted by President Franklin D. Roosevelt of the United States to King Abdulaziz Al Saud in the mid 1940s. This gesture was part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations and support the development of aviation in the region. The gift symbolized the burgeoning partnership between the United States and Saudi Arabia during that period. In the 1980s a Douglas DC-3 was decommissioned and used to create one of Jeddah’s unforgettable roundabouts.
